Cargo Bikes in Copenhagen. A phenomenom in the city.

Copenhagen is unique in a lot of ways but one of the things that meets the eye immediately is the bikers. One would assume that only usual two-wheel bikes roam the streets of Copenhagen, well, that isn’t true. Copehageners use bikes of all styles.

One of the coolest style of bikes in Copenhagen is cargo bikes. They are used to transport anything that fits in their brown box. That includes kids, old people, friends, building materials, bottles. I’ve been fascinated by them ever since I moved to Copenhagen as I’ve rarely seen them in Aalborg and especially not in the United States.

There’s a lot of brands but the most common are Christianiabikes, originally made in free-town Chrstiania, Nihola bikes, and the weird Larry vs. Harry bikes.

Here’s examples of all of the above.
Christiania bike, obviously.
Christiania bike with kids, common sight in Copenhagen.
Larry vs. Harry bike, not sure how people ride these but I never see them fall!
Great use of a cargo bike. Mobile speakers!
