8-Tallet. A Prime Example of Eco-Friendly Architecture

8-Tallet or Number 8 in English, is the biggest apartment complex in Denmark, located in Ørestad on Vest Amager, Copenhagen. It contains 476 homes, divided into town houses, penthouse apartments and apartments. Many of the homes even have private gardens, a seating area and the option of parking your bike right outside the door.

This eco-friendly building is created with businesses in the bottom and private homes on top, with both a kindergarten and playground area. You could wake up in the morning, drop the kids off at kindergarten, go to work in the bottom and eat at the restaurant for dinner. There is also an organic food shop that serves the area.

The architectural firm behind the project is the famous Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The building is designed in the shape of an 8, with more than a 1 km board walk throughout the entire building. It is built right next to nature reservoir, guaranteeing the surrounding area will not be exploited in the future.

This magnificent building attracts a lot of tourists, so there are rules set up for the visitors. We recommend you pay this fantastic piece of architecture a visit!
